Chapter Five Episode 5 of Pachinko begins with Sunja and Isak arriving in Japan. We’re up to Osaka 1931, as the hustle and bustle of Japan’s dock paves way for Sunja meeting Yoseb, Isak’s brother. He’s not exactly thrilled to see them, forcing a smile, as he admits that he and Kyunghee were shocked to learn of what’s happened. Sunja feels like an outsider, especially as speaking Korean is frowned upon here....
Opening Pandora’s Box When it comes to science fiction, the genre is chock full of imaginative and impressive titles. From the criminally underrated The Expanse to the juggernaut of both the Star Trek and Star Wars universes, it’s always a tough ask to deliver something that’ll stand the test of time next to these titles. The CW’s latest effort, Pandora, is not just a bad show, it’s one that unfortunately feels lazy, with stilted, ham-fisted dialogue, questionable costuming and an underwhelming first episode that does little to hide the issues with this series....

With the dust barely settled over Gotham and the Batman Universe, Epix’s latest Batman-prequel series Pennyworth explores the background of Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. With a distinctly noir feel, bordering on old spy thrillers from the 70’s, Pennyworth feels both very familiar yet refreshingly original, with a story that bears no resemblance to the superhero world, save for the character names. A brief prologue begins the series with charismatic, cockney villain Bet Sykes kidnapping a rich man from his estate....
A visual stunner with a sweet story but not much depth This adaptation of the classic Disney tale follows the original story quite closely. Geppetto, an old Italian man, makes Pinocchio in remembrance of his late son. He wishes upon a star, which makes the puppet come alive. Tasked to be brave, truthful and unselfish, Pinocchio sets off on a journey to become a real boy along with Jiminy Cricket, who acts as his conscience....
When Laura plays back songs from a mix tape she made with her boyfriend Harrison (Lewis Pullman), she is literally transported through time as she steps back into the shoes of her former self. We never really get to find out how this happens as the time travel logic is a little fuzzy. But as the time-transcending power of Laura’s cassette tape isn’t really the film’s main focus in Greg Björkman’s debut feature, this isn’t something you necessarily need to worry about....

Twisting Fates I jumped into Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung blindly earlier without so much as reading the synopsis to the show. Ironically, this ended up being the best decision I could have made. Charming, witty, laugh-out-loud funny and genuinely well written, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung is a surprising breath of fresh air in a sea of dramas. It’s not perfect, and at times the humour feels a little forced, but all in all, Rookie Historian gets off to an impressively strong start....
It’s Alive Room 104 is one of those rare shows that completely swings in quality every week in one of the more inconsistent anthologies in recent memory. Yet because of this, Room 104 has a unique charm that keeps you coming back to see what else this series has in store for us. As we close out season 3, Room 104 ends things on a high, with another good episode coming off the back of last week’s deliciously dark dive into the after-life....
Avalance Room 104 returns this week with an artistic and surprisingly effective look at mental health in episode 3 of Season 4. With Dave Bautista in the driving seat, the entire episode revolves around a retired wrestler reliving painful memories from the past. All of this culminates in an ambiguous and well written ending that definitely serves as one of the better episodes in this anthology. The wrestler in question here is Raw Dawg, a man who’s clearly been through a lot of punishment....
The Freezer Rugal returns this week with another slice of sci-fi drama as the rivalry between Argos and Rugal continues to grow. At the same time, the team start to close in on Deuk-Ga, who continues his experiments in the diabolical laboratory underground. With a bit more banter between the characters this time and some investigative work too, Rugal continues to offer entertaining drama, even if it’s not quite as tightly written as it could be....
Tribulation Episode 5 of Schmigadoon begins with our usual flashback to the time before our fantasy land musical shenanigans. Mel and Josh disagree over the correct phrase for “dog eat dog” world, with Mel convinced it’s Doggy Dog. The cracks are there, but they’re only exacerbated by what’s going on right now. In the present Mel and Jorge Lopez discuss their top three worst moments of the day. It’s a weird thing to do with a new love interest, but it soon paves way for more dancing between them....
A woman later picks up “The Book of Corpses” from the floor. “Once upon a time,” a narrator says, “there was a girl who wished for a friend… who would stay by her side.” In the present day, a student named Saiparn transfers to a new school. She quickly finds herself the subject of harsh bullying–particularly by a girl named Kaew. Saiparn starts taking refuge in the library with librarian Narin....
