The Good, The Bad & The Bony Back in 1998 I remember playing Medievil for the first time, courtesy of the obligatory demo disc on the front of an old Playstation magazine. Having just finished playing Crash Bandicoot, Croc and Spyro, I immediately took to Sir Dan’s exploits, which combined puzzling, combat and platforming in a simple but challenging hack’n’slash format. I have fond memories of being hopelessly stuck in the enchanted forest, of trying to escape scarecrows in the cornfields and squaring off against Zorak himself when I eventually received the game for Christmas that year....

Surprises, Shocks & Secrets The end of the third episode of Memories Of The Alhambra signaled a significant change in tone for the remainder of the series. Following the shocking reveal of Hyung-Seok’s dead body, it was perhaps inevitable then that Memories Of The Alhambra would adopt a darker tone going forward. While there’s still pockets of humour here and there, the fourth episode signals a real change in tone for the series and boy does it enhance this augmented reality drama....

Milly is a band pushing the limits of sound. A melancholic act, they wholeheartedly know how to structure loud moments and their lyrics are centred around smoky rooms and bad decisions. And these words are monumental to the progression of this unique outfit, as they act like pillars, keeping them afloat above the rot. While this happens, the band knows hurt first and foremost; pain that stings even more so when winter hits and the world becomes a frosty bubble....

The Sins Of A Mother Episode 7 of Mine starts with Butler Joo in her office. She opens up an envelope which holds pieces from the ripped up photo Soon-Hye threw away. As she assembles them together, she notices it depicts Hye-Jin and Ji-Yong together. It was perhaps obvious that this was the case but now the hired help have found out. She’s a clever lady too, convincing Jin-Ho not to file the necklace as stolen to the police....

Who is Thomas? Missing: The Other Side returns this week with a slightly slower episode which fails to move the story forward greatly. The series is still interesting though but with just 5 episodes remaining, there are still plenty of unanswered questions to resolved. Episode 7 of Missing: The Other Side starts with a flashback of a day Pan Seok took his daughter to an amusement park. After leaving her to get some ice cream, he returned to the bench he left to find her missing....

Jiro wonders why Akari was watching a scary movie if she was so creeped out by it. Akari defends that she was only doing this to so rack up their points as her friend had told her that couples who watched horror films together scored well. Since she is too scared, Jiro turns the tv off. Akari surprises Jiro with matching pyjamas for the couple to wear. Akari begins changing into her pyjamas right there in the living room and asks Jiro not to turn around to look at her....

She wants to put the power back in gamers’ hands. Her expansion is called Hera… and it’s riddled with bugs. (Oh hello, Bethesda!) So much so in fact, she causes a worldwide outage. Woops. Meanwhile, Dana continues to work on her goat simulator. Rachel interjects and tells her she’s thought of what she wants to do with her life – she wants to be a writer but doesn’t know how to do it....

After an opening crossover event with NCIS, expect the show to fall back into a more episodic structure....

Nalini tells Rhyah that she approves of Des because he is a polite Indian boy and she sees Des as a good influence on her. For the first time, Devi is allowed to have a boyfriend. The next day at school, Fabiola and Eleanor wonder how Nalini’s personality changed all of a sudden. Devi has a full weekend planned out with Des. She is looking forward to starting it with her Orchestra concert....

An Innovative and Worthy Sequel After its surprise success back on Playstation 3, Ni No Kuni II follows up on the success of the first game, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch with a sequel that improves in almost every area over the first. Although the lack of Studio Ghibli’s animated cut scenes are a little disappointing and the supporting characters are surprisingly under-developed, Ni No Kuni II is a great game and innovates just enough to keep the charm of the original game intact whilst taking much-needed steps forward for the series....

A Very Bland, Uninspiring Kart Racer Slow, lethargic and emotionless, Nickelodeon Kart Racers is one of the worst games I’ve played in some time. It’s frustrating too because this racer has potential but the thoughtless manner this one’s been slapped together makes it a difficult one to recommend to anyone. It’s a game that’s plagued by questionable design choices throughout and sputters forward with dated mechanics that pale in comparison to PS2 titles....

Sweet Surrender Episode 5 of Nine Perfect Strangers begins with flashes in the past. Masha lost one of her residents at Tranquillum. Shots of CPR, flatlining heart monitors and blinding images confirm as much. While Masha suffers with ghosts of her past, so too does Zoe, who dreams of Zack being before her. It turns out she and Zack were close and she misses her brother dearly. Zoe admits she feels incredibly lonely and now that her son has gone, there’s a big hole in her life....

Not Me Episode 12 Not Me is a Thai action drama television series with an intriguing and engaging plot. The story here revolves around a guy called White, who disguises himself as his twin Black in order to discover who betrayed him and put him in a coma. The trouble is, Black has a number of enemies, which makes it hard to figure out who’s the real culprit. Will White find out the truth about what happened to his twin brother?...

The Parisian Pop-up Store Episode 8 of Now, We Are Breaking Up sees a new development in Jae-guk’s career. Parisian conglomerate, DPHP, wants him to shoot for their various luxury brands. At Hills Department Store where Yoo-jung is a director, she decides to cut all domestic storefronts and replace them with international brands. CEO Hwang gives Young-eun until the end of the month to reverse the decision or he’ll dissolve Sono....

Lightsaber + Sand = Fire? Episode 3 of Obi-Wan Kenobi starts with Obi-Wan on his ship, attempting to communicate with Qui-Gon, reaching out and asking for help. While sat on his ship, there’s really slick scene where we cut back and forth between Anakin becoming Vader and Obi-Wan hearing echoed flashes of the past, mixed in with Reva’s taunts that Anakin is still alive. “He’s coming master.” Obi whispers to himself, as Vader is released from his tank....

First Tapping Episode 4 of Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood begins with Maria arriving at the hospital and seeing first-hand the devastating impact of Prank’s wrath. With Roman a bloody mess, Maria gasps in shock and tries to work out how to gain revenge. This event is completely drowned out though by the start of Oktoberfest. The tent is all ready and prepped, prompting thirsty patrons to gather and embrace Prank warmly....

During the voiceover, we see him sneak into the evidence room in the station and tamper with it. He also divulges that he freelances as a detective in small towns and enterprises to give them city-like expertise in handling evidence and solving murders. Kreps also mentions a special lady he met in a bar. Mabel breaks the news to Charles. His photo goes up on the board but they both agree he isn’t the mastermind....

Our Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days Episode 11 of Our Beloved Summer begins with Choi Ung reflecting on the break-up with Yeon-Su once more. This time it’s given more context, specifically how Choi Ung was on the verge of leaving and asking Yeon-Su to study abroad with him. This all feeds back into the life of a dog from his past called Jjongjjong, whose mannerisms he likens to his own....
